Users across Europe are reporting significant price increases on their individual and family plans Youtube Premium.
And although the reports are mostly from Europe, YouTube has decided to raise prices globally. Registered users are now receiving emails with the new pricing that will be effective from November.
In Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, for example, the family plan will ask for €26 a month, down from €18, while individual plans go from €12 to €14. Swiss users will have to pay CHF 34 (up from CHF 24) and Swedish users will see an increase from SEK 179 to SEK 279.
Perhaps a full list of countries receiving a price increase will be published by YouTube soon, but until then the information comes from the mails users receive.
This price increase seems very aggressive, and some Reddit users are pointing out that YouTube Premium is now one of the most expensive streaming services, at least for users who use the platform primarily for YouTube Music.
For example, Spotify charges around €18 for its family plan in Europe on average, while the individual plan is around €11. Apple Music is also cheaper, matching Spotify’s individual plan price and asking €1 less for its family plan.
